Zusammenfassung:	The purpose of the present paper is to describe the optimum salinities for survival and development of larvae of M. americanum . The results from preliminary experiments on postlarvae are also included. These studies show that salinities used in previous rearing experiments were suboptimal and that the optimum salinity varies during larval development.
