Attraction of American cockroaches (Orthoptera: Blattidae) to traps containing periplanone B and to insecticide-periplanone B mixtures

Periplanone B, a synthetic component of the female sex pheromone of Periplaneta americana , was field tested in traps and in conventional insecticide spray formulations. The pheromone significantly enhanced the trap catch and number of cockroaches killed with insecticides by stumulating locomotory activity, attracting males, and possibly reducing behavioral repellency.
