Methylmercuric chloride and serum cholesterol level in the Bluegill (Lepomis macrochirus)
Mean serum cholesterol levels in fish exposed to methylmercuric chloride (0.87 ng per litre) for 24, 48, or 72 h were 0.50, 0.08, and 0.20 mg per ml, compared to a mean control value of 0.30 mg per ml. In a previous study using the same methylmercuric chloride concentration, total serum protein was...

Zusammenfassung: | Mean serum cholesterol levels in fish exposed to methylmercuric chloride (0.87 ng per litre) for 24, 48, or 72 h were 0.50, 0.08, and 0.20 mg per ml, compared to a mean control value of 0.30 mg per ml. In a previous study using the same methylmercuric chloride concentration, total serum protein was increased after 48 h exposure, suggesting an inverse relationship between serum cholesterol and serum protein in bluegill exposed to methylmercuric chloride. |
