Zusammenfassung:	Factors affecting determination of mercury in samples of river water, rain water, and snow were investigated. The effects of various preliminary treatments of river water on the results, and losses of mercury occurring during collection of rain water or melting of snow, are tabulated. Even for unpolluted river water, addition of an oxidant and heating at 100C for 4 h were necessary for determination of total mercury.
