Zusammenfassung: | The year 2004 marks in the emergence of France a significant number of research projects, but also two controversies, regarding prostitution and more specifically the mobilization of sex workers in the Internal Security Act (2002) and concerning the wearing of the veil. It is in this context that the question of interweaving of power relations concerning gender, sexuality, race, class, and also of religion, nationality, and generation, has become in France and in Europe one of the most controversial and urgent issues for feminist and gender studies.
