Adaptive modification of host selection by a hymenopteran parasitoid

The frequency-independent component of selection of different foods (or hosts) by animals may be partly an adaptive response to differences in quality of the foods. The relationship between the selective coefficients for three hosts presented to Nasonia in their three pairwise combinations, as revealed by a new statistical technique, is such as to confirm this view. /// Независимый от частоты компонент избирательности в отношении разных видов пищи (или хозяев) животными может быть частично адаптивной реакцией на раз-личия качества пищи.
