Zusammenfassung: | Samples were collected from 13 localities in the lower delta of the Niger river using a plankton net of 50 um mesh size. They were obtained during the dry and rainy seasons: 207 species of monogonont rotifers were recorded. Lecane was the most common genus with 59 species, 10 of which appeared endemic to the region. Tropical and sub-tropical floodplains were the world's richest habitats for rotifers. There are 37 references. (see also preceeding abstract). |
