Zusammenfassung: | The effect of heat treated mild steel was investigated over a range of 90 degree C to 360 degree C with various layers of coating. The mild steel coupons were coated with xylene and methyl benzene aerosol paint and placed in furnace for 120 hours. The corroded coupons were characterized by polarization test and coating thickness test. The coating thickness shows a deformation as the temperature increases and the samples with less coating layers exhibit faster deformation. The electrochemical test indicates that the value of corrosion current density, I sub( corr) for all samples increases with the increasing of temperature. The value for 360 degree C of uncoated samples has the highest value of I sub( corr) compared to other samples. The samples with higher layer of coating show lower corrosion rate and higher polarization resistance, R sub( p). It shows that highest layer and lower temperature has lowest corrosion rate. |
