Zusammenfassung:Processes for dewatering and drying residuals and biosolids were being evaluated in research funded by the Electric Power Research Institute. The technologies were expected to reduce the energy use associated with biosolids processing. Available processes discussed are high-solids centrifuges, heat drying and chemical-thermal processes. Emerging technologies described are mechanical freeze-thaw processes, pulsed power treatment, infra-red drying and physical-chemical disinfection and stabilization.
