Zusammenfassung: | The adsorption and desorption behaviour of barium (or radium) and other alkaline earth metals such as strontium, was examined using batchwise measurements on columns containing lead rhodizonate (LEHRO) supported on activated charcoal powder and an additional support in the form of celite 545. Essentially, the LEHRO was equilibrated with solutions of barium-133 or strontium-87 and the distribution coefficients were determined as a function of the pH, agitation time and the concentration of EDTA (ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid). The mechanisms of barium (or radium) ions adsorption are considered and the suitability of LEHRO for separating barium from very dilute solutions is mentioned. (see also preceding abstract). |
