Zusammenfassung:Assessment of bone activity has been shown, notably by Fogelman et al., to be of value in metabolic bone disease, using the whole body retention of Tc99m Diphosphonates. The authors describe a method of quantitative of Tc99m (MDP) retnetion in bone for use during routine bone scans. The method relies on the relative clearances from the blood of Tc99m MDP and Cr51 (EDTA); Cr51 EDTA being handled solely by the kidney, while Tc99m MDP is handled by the kidney and is also taken up in bone. Cr51 EDTA was used to correct for renal handling of Tc99m MDP following the findings of McAfee et al. (2) that the renal extraction of MDP was very similar to that of glomerular filtration rate determining agents.
