Zusammenfassung: | The work described here represents an alternative approach to the identification of the yeast ligand. It involved treating C. albicans with tunicamycin, an antibiotic which, in yeasts, specifically inhibits the synthesis of mannoprotein and not that of the other major wall components, glucan and chitin. The results suggest that yeast mannoprotein is of primary importance in the interaction with buccal epithelial cells. |
