Zusammenfassung:It is known that the main effect of a lubricant in hot rolling consists of a reduction in the friction coefficient in the deformation zone and protection of the roll surface from direct contact with the hot strip. Thus, an oil film in the deformation zone increases roll life by reducing abrasive and thermal wear. Mineral and vegetable oils are usually used as rolling oils. On the 2500 mill the authors studied the effectiveness of reclaimed palm oil (RPO), used cottonseed oil (UCO), ZhKB preservative oil, and IS-12 industrial oil. Study of the operation of the roll lubrication system of the 2500 mill has established that, for efficient use of the lubricant, mean roll temperature should not exceed 75 degree C. Compositions of interchangeable rolling oils have been developed from wastes and nonscarce oils to ensure uniform roll wear and regular mill operation.
