The body and the arts

Issues under consideration include classical beauty, Christian views of sexuality, resurrection imagery, the evolution of the nude, modernist and post-modernist expressions, and representations in dance, opera and film. More recent developments are included, such as the "Operations T-shirt", drawing classes enabling medical students to learn anatomy from the living, and the impact of the controversial Body worlds exhibitions of Gunther von Hagens.
