Zusammenfassung: | The article examines a relief in Pentelic marble representing Apollo Citharede before the tripod, today in a private collection. After briefly outlining the history of its ownership, linked to the figure of Gabriele Castelli, count of Terni, and his cultural environment between the late 16th and early 17th century, the marble is considered from an artistic and functional viewpoint. Derived from Attic-style models, the relief has been interpreted as a product of artistic workmanship of the Augustan age, inspired by official themes associated with the figure of Apollo, intended for private circles. |
