Zusammenfassung: | Research in the aquatic sciences is well supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and benefits from being appropriate for programs that span several directorates, offices, and divisions. Ironically, because funding is not consolidated in a single program, and because there is some confusion about where to apply for it, the general impression is often that aquatic research is underfunded by the NSF. This brief article is offered as a rough field guide to the funding opportunities available. Questions should be directed to cognizant program officers (listed below) if this article does not provide the guidance you need. In addition, we offer some tips for successful proposals and a brief view of the ontogeny of a proposal once it is submitted to the Foundation. |
