Zusammenfassung: | Hookah bars have increased in popularity in recent years, especially in college towns. Most of the research examining hookah use has focused on toxicant exposure, prevalence rates, or the attitudes and beliefs of hookah users regarding popularity, acceptability, and harm or addictiveness of hookah. Despite the similar risks between hookah and cigarette smoking, research has shown that many hookah users consider smoking hookah to be less harmful, less addictive and more socially acceptable than smoking cigarettes. Hookah smoking is a public health issue that requires further attention and examination. [Copyright Elsevier B.V.] |
