Zusammenfassung:In this paper we have proposed a path length based wavelength assignment strategy for wavelength routed WDM networks which assign the wavelength to the connection request according to the path length. The blocking performance of proposed strategy is compared with most prevalent strategy among the existing strategies. The present strategy has been applied on the different realistic networks such as NSFNET and US network topologies. Simulation Results show that proposed strategy is very effective than the existing strategy in minimizing the blocking probability of WDM optical networks. The results also show that the proposed strategy improves blocking performance for heavy loaded WDM optical networks. For large size network, where the number of requests are high this strategy shall be the optimum choice.
