Zusammenfassung: | Reflects on the immaterial in 20th-century contemporary art. Dismissing the material/immaterial debate, the author argues that what is at stake in today's art is form, highlights what Manuel Castells has portrayed as the 'interhuman dimension of relational practices' as represented, for instance, by Maurizio Cattelan's Working Is a Bad Job (1993) and the work of Liam Gillick, and traces them to the sale ceremonies that the French artist Yves Klein conducted on the banks of the River Seine in Paris (10 Feb. 1962) and to the new modes of production pioneered by Fluxus. |
