Zusammenfassung: | Considers the prints by the American artist Lee Krasner (1908-84). The author describes Krasner's incorporation of prints into her collages, considers the lithographs Refractions (1962; illus.), Obsidian (1962; illus.), The Civet (1962; illus.), and Soundings (1962; illus.), and assesses their place amongst Abstract Expressionist prints. She outlines Krasner's involvement in a project commemorating the poet Frank O Hara, studies her submission Untitled (1967; col. illus), and examines her colour lithographs Primary Series: Blue Stone (1969; col. illus.), Primary Series Pink (1969; col. illus.), and Primary Series: Gold Stone (1969; col. illus.). She analyses Krasner's screen-prints Embrace (1974; col. illus.) and Free Space (1975; col. illus.), refers to her use of her prints in collages, highlighting the collage Autumnal Red (1980; col. illus.) as an example of this. |
