The Prints of Lee Krasner

Considers the prints by the American artist Lee Krasner (1908-84). The author describes Krasner's incorporation of prints into her collages, considers the lithographs Refractions (1962; illus.), Obsidian (1962; illus.), The Civet (1962; illus.), and Soundings (1962; illus.), and assesses their place amongst Abstract Expressionist prints. She analyses Krasner's screen-prints Embrace (1974; col. illus.) and Free Space (1975; col. illus.), refers to her use of her prints in collages, highlighting the collage Autumnal Red (1980; col. illus.) as an example of this.
