Zusammenfassung:Discusses the work of the American artist Karen Kilimnik. The author compares Kilimnik's mixed-media work Drugs (1991) with her installation Fountain of Youth (Cleanliness is Next to Godliness) (1992), discusses her album of drawings Drawings by Karen Kilimnik (1997) and the drawing Bubble Gum Habit< /i> (1994), and considers their relationship to fashion. She examines Kilimnik's JANE CREEP series of framed handwritten notes, begun in the late 1980s, her use of different media, and her interest in ballet as reflected in recent exhibitions of her photographs and paintings. She contrasts Kilimnik's work with that of Melanie Klein, focuses on the re-emergence of the Gothic and the revival of figuration in contemporary art, the texts accompanying her drawings, and her fascination with the occult.
