Zusammenfassung:We have studied air-jet texturing of cotton filament composite yams, comparing physical and mechanical properties of these yams after texturing with parent yam properties. We have also compared woven and knitted fabrics produced from both parent and air textured yams for thermal and mechanical properties in both gray and finished forms. Fabrics made using air-jet textured yams show considerably higher thermal resistance and reduced air permeability. Tensile and bursting strengths decrease with the use of air textured yams, but abrasion resistance improves. The results indicate that air-jet textured cotton spun yams have good potential for use where thermal comfort and softness of handle are major requirements.
