Zusammenfassung: | A fiber-holder of special design that allows the ends of the fibers to be scanned by x-ray diffraction while in the "stand-up" position has been found to improve the peak resolution. The device also gives new diffraction peaks not heretofore known by exposing crystallites that are in orderly lattices parallel to the fiber axis. The holder can also be employed to pack the fibers in a randomly-oriented condition for a more complete analysis of fiber crystallinity. The latter method has been found to provide a good way to measure heat-setting in nylon. The results for nylon, polyester, rayon, and cotton are given. |
