An estimate of the nonlinear distortions of random signals by comparing the ratios of their instantaneous values

A method of estimating nonlinear distortions, which differs from the well-known ones in that it enables one to determine the nonlinear distortions of random signals, which carry useful information, is described. A new criterion is proposed for estimating these distortions, the basis of which is a calculation of the mean value of the relative change in the gain of the circuit which introduces the distortions. A block diagram of the measuring circuit is presented.
