Zusammenfassung: | In the North-Eastern Atlantic the Rajidae family is represented by nine genera and 31 species (Quero et al., 2003). The genus Rajella was originally described by Stehmann (1970) as a subgenus of Raja and was elevated to generic status by McEachran and Dunn (1998). The genus occurs in the Atlantic, eastern South Pacific, Indian Ocean, and Australian waters and includes fifteen valid species and at least four non-described species, plus two dubious identifications (Ebert and Compagno, 2007). In the Northeastern Atlantic, only four species have been reported: Rajella fyllae, R. bigelowi, R. bathyphila and R. kukujevi. |
