Zusammenfassung:The purpose of this study is to identify social and cultural commonalities in countries with similar approaches to internet sports betting operations policy, in the hope of predicting gambling policy choices for countries that have not yet established policy regarding online sports betting operations. The study used the Hofstede indices of cultural dimensions and a secondary data set containing 64 cases, with each case representing one country and its representative gambling jurisdication. The results of discriminant function analysis demonstrated that there were two Hofstede indices, Uncertainty Avoidance Index (UAI) and Individualism (IDV), which significantly distinguished between four policy groups. The two significant predictors effectively contributed to classification results, judging them to be useful as predictors for future policy-making decisions. Adapted from the source document.
