Zusammenfassung: | The notion of a Balkan confederation is examined in relation to Bulgaria's candidacy for EU & NATO membership. A survey of Bulgaria's compliance to EU & NATO requirements notes the nation's political steps taken, financial aid received, & international academic exchanges initiated. Regarding Balkan cooperation, the peninsula's states have conferred several times in recent years to develop plans for economic & political stability. The article "Peuples balkaniques et culture balkanique" ([Balkan Peoples and Balkan Culture] Stanev, N., 1937) suggests a scientific framework for Balkan cooperation. The complexity of Bulgarian attitudes toward the EU & toward the Balkans is explored. References. E. Taylor |
