Zusammenfassung:In the literature little attention has been paid to the relationship between residential segregation and urban quality. In this paper we explore the interaction between urban structure (understood as homogenous areas in terms of architectonic and urban features) and residential segregation (understood as the spatial distribution of income groups). The results suggest that there is a correlation, although not lineal, between urban quality and segregation, since normal serviced areas high score in terms of social diversity. On other hand, those marginal areas not only are under-diversified, but mainly, do potentiate the hyper-segregation of social groups as suggested by econometric LISA analysis. The paper ends suggesting some implications regarding social inclusion for urban policy. Adapted from the source document.
