Zusammenfassung:[...]hospitals in Tanzania showed little progress in health quality despite the combination of infection control guidelines and continuous quality improvement--total quality management (CQI-TQM) approaches.2 Improvement was only seen after the 5S approach, which originated in the Japanese manufacturing industry, was incorporated. 5S refers to a series of five workplace management activities--sort, set, shine, standardise, and sustain--aimed at improving orderliness and ensuring maximum use of existing resources.
