Zusammenfassung:The present work provides a short review concerning the importance of particle size decreasing in the drug formulation. Two types of bottom-up crystallization method, solvent diffusion and solvent evaporation were used in order to decrease the particle size of a non-steroid anti inflammatory drug, niflumic acid, to increase its solubility and in vitro dissolution properties. The particle size and morphology were visualized by using Malvern mastersizer and scanning electron microscope. Crystalline state of the drugs and the samples was confirmed using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD). The physicochemical properties were examined by using wettability test (contact angle), and solubility and dissolution test from simulated media. To summarize our results, it can be concluded that the particle size was decreased to the micro range in both cases, therefore the specific surface area was increased and the dissolution rate was significantly improved.
