Zusammenfassung: | Fracture mechanics tests depend on the accurate measurement of fatigue precrack (and eventual stable crack growth) in order to guarantee reliable crack tip driving forces (K, J and CTOD) and crack growing curves results. Current standards do not specify preferable measurement techniques, but determine minimum precision requirements. This work investigates several fractures from SE(B) and SE(T) specimens measuring its features using: a) profile projector; b) stereo microscope; c) specially developed code for image evaluation using pixel analysis (using digital photographs and high quality scanned images). The main objective is to evaluate the feasibility of using image analysis with enough precision and less time consuming to measure fracture surfaces. An special algorithm was developed and results indicate that it can be precisely used with high definition scanned images, fitting precision requirements from all considered standards and reducing measuring time. |
