Zusammenfassung:Jigging is a process that utilizes the gravitic concentration method applied for the recovery of minerals that contains Fe, which uses the density difference between valuable minerals (concentrate) and non valuable minerals (tailings). This research aims to make a statistical survey and to utilize correlations among the following jigging variables: mass recovery, gate opening percentage, iron ore content in the concentrate and feed. The first exploratory test works were carried out regulating the opening in 3 different positions: 25%, 44% and 100%, whereby it was possible to determine the mass recoveries and the product qualities for each position. From regression analysis the following logarithmic function was obtained between mass recovery and gate opening percentage, obtaining a good correlation: RM = 0,2918 x In(AC) + 0,996. In this same stage it was also verified that the Fe content in the concentrate and feed, also has a correlation from the gate opening percentage, on a logarithmic trend, generating the following function: Fe Co = -0,0305 x In(AC) + Fe Alim x 1,0034. Thus, from the statistical survey of the database, a mathematical model could be determined involving all mentioned variables, through the development of an operational abacus. This model involves several logarithmic functions for each Fe content range in the feed from different gate opening percentages.
