Zusammenfassung:This work aims to evaluate the effect of plasma nitriding on the Ti-6Al-4V alloy with a typical structure of Widmanstatten subjected to creep tests at 600 degree C. The results showed that the Ti-6Al-4V alloy had a hardness of 300 plus or minus 17 HV. After treatment thermochemical by plasma, was observed the formation of a nitrided layer of thickness of 4 mu m and hardness of 1539 plus or minus 157 HV due to presence of the Ti(2)N and TiN phases identified by X-ray diffraction. The plasma nitriding reduced the values of average roughness of 1,29 mu m to 1,18 mu m. The creep properties of nitrided specimens were significantly improved in comparison with those of the unnitrided Ti-6Al-4V alloy.
