Migrants' religion as an element of social cohesion

The author looks at the role of religious beliefs amongst migrants as a factor in the development of social cohesion. Discussing both positive and negative examples of how religious beliefs have affected migrants and their integration into host societies, the author draws examples from around the world and from different historical periods in order to analyse the question. The author finds that migrants' religious beliefs have helped society construct a new identity and system of values in immigrant and host societies.
