Peggy Penn In Memoriam (1931-2012)

Peggy Penn, an eloquent leading voice in the family therapy world that significantly contributed to its scholarship and practice, died peacefully at her home in New York City on July 28, 2012. Inspired early on by Gregory Bateson's notions of double descriptions, patterns, circularity, change, and language, soon followed by the Milan Associates' notions of positive connotation and circular questioning, and later by the work of Kenneth Gergen and Sheila McNamee, among others, themes emerged in her work such as relational understanding, multiple voices, narration and future-oriented talk and questions.
