High output cardiac failure and paradoxical pulmonary emboli secondary to aortocaval fistula
An aortocaval fistula causes a sudden diversion of blood flow from the high-resistance arterial circuit to the low-resistance venous circuit which can result in high output heart failure. Furthermore, lowered arterial blood pressure can lead to a lower renal pressure.
