Zusammenfassung: | Maternal obesity increases the risk of pregnancy complications, 1 2 3 4 and rates of adverse maternal and neonatal outcomes are lower after bariatric surgery. 4 5 Although women are advised to avoid pregnancy for 12-24 months after bariatric surgery owing to fears of fetal undernutrition and reduced weight loss benefits, 3 4 little is known of the effects of a subsequent pregnancy on weight loss. Eighteen women completed pregnancy successfully, 12 by vaginal delivery and six by caesarean section; two undertook medical termination and one had a spontaneous miscarriage. |
