Zusammenfassung:The new multipurpose accelerator research Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research (FAIR) under construction in Darmstadt (Germany) will provide high-intensity precisely aligned beams of stable and radioactive nuclei as well as antiproton beams surpassing by factors of 100–10000 the intensity of such beams currently available anywhere in the world. The active participation of Russian scientists and engineers in the implementation of the FAIR project will make it possible to obtain unique data on the structure and properties of matter as well as the fundamental laws required for creating a scientifictechnological base for new-generation nuclear power, expanding the sphere of application of nuclear technologies, and finding promising methods for using nuclear energy.
