Zusammenfassung:In Meiji-era there used to be several thousands of wooden playhouses but nowadays there are only a few dozens of them left. We made field-studies on 15 playhouses and investigated the acoustic characteristics of these playhouses. In Edo-era, mainly Kabuki or Joruri were performed but after Meiji-era koto or shamisen concert came to be held in these places. The purpose of this study is to preserve the acoustic characteristics of these places as the form of the acoustic impulse response, and to seek favorable acoustic spaces for the traditional Japanese music in terms of the acoustic simulation.
