Zusammenfassung:Following Prince Charles' victory at Prestonpans, when more troops were being raised for the Prince, two Troops of Life Guards were formed, the First Troop, consisting of seventy men placed under the command of Lord Elcho, as Colonel. The Second troop, of about thirty or forty men, was commanded by the Hon. Arthur Elphinstone. The Life Guards were considered the elite of the cavalry and wore a most handsome uniform.
