The "Feudal Revolution"

Clustered changes in historical Europe, including the collapse of public justice and new regimes of arbitrary lordship over recently subjected and often intimidated peasants, have often been referred to as a "feudal revolution." The matter of continuity and change from the 10th to the 12th century is examined with specific reference to power, lordship and the problem of violence.
