Zusammenfassung:In 1979 the New South Wales government decriminalized soliciting for prostitution. Examines the circumstances that made such a radical piece of legislation possible. In particular, argues that the legislation can in some sense be regarded as one of the major feminist victories of the decade. In tracing the evolution of the Australian feminist approaches to prostitution in the 1970s, also sheds light on how transnational ideas were altered, taken up and encouraged in a local setting.
