Attributions of Authorship in the Gentleman's Magazine, 1776–79: A Supplement to the Union List

de Montluzin lists 112 new or corrected attributions of authorship of anonymous, pseudonymous, or incompletely signed articles, letters, poems, staff notes, or drawings appearing in the Gentleman's Magazine during the years 1776-79. Of the fifty-three authors whose contributions are listed, the largest group consists of persons affiliated with the stage. Divines and poets make up other substantial groups of contributors, while schoolmasters, politicians, physicians, antiquaries, mathematicians, and astronomers, inventors, pamphleteers, novelist, men of letters, a classicist, an architect, and a judge make up the rest.
