High-mobility group box 1 contributes to mechanical allodynia and spinal astrocytic activation in a mouse model of type 2 diabetes

Highlights ► HMGB1 is significantly increased in spinal dorsal horn of type 2 diabetic mice. ► Inhibiting HMGB1 expression significantly attenuates diabetic pain. ► Diabetes-induced astrocytic activation could be reversed by inhibiting HMGB1.
