Zusammenfassung:[...]this verboconceptual reduction is never quite complete, because it is precisely the irrational content, ostensibly banished by rationality, that rationality needs in order to guarantee the persuasion or coherence of its discourse. [...]the conceptual constructions oí Lebensphilosophie (e.g., Worringer's art history, Georg Simmel's theory of metropolitan consciousness, Wilhelm Dilthey's notion of Erlebnis) are constantly in danger of collapsing on the instability of their foundations - a problematic that gains a most vivid expression in Worringer's texts, in which, I argue, a florid and hyperbolic rhetorical presentation reveals the very conceptual oscillation that it tries to cover up.
