The effect of 5-fluorouracil on the long term survival and proliferation of cells in the rat hippocampus

Highlights ► 5-Fluorouracil chemotherapy reduces proliferation in the dentate gyrus of the hippocampus. ► 5-Fluorouracil reduces the survival of the dentate gyrus proliferation cells. ► The reduction in hippocampal neurogenesis is not accompanied by changes in dentate gyrus COX2 levels.
