Zusammenfassung:A patient with development of autoimmune hyperthyroidism following radioiodine treatment for autonomously functioning thyroid adenoma is presented. This is a rare occurrence, probably as a consequence of shedding of the thyroid-stimulating hormone receptor, which is a source of antigen leading to activation of the autoimmune response in susceptible individuals.
