Zusammenfassung:	The growth of Yersinia enterocolitica and Yersinia pseudotuberculosis in Yersinia enrichment broth according to Ossmer (YSEO) was investigated. Y. enterocolitica reached a higher concentration than Y. pseudotuberculosis but both always exceeded 106CFU/ml. The medium may be useful for the detection of both species in foods. ► YSEO allowed for the enrichment of both Y. enterocolitica and Y. pseudotuberculosis. ► The medium allowed all of the strains tested to grow comparably. ► The concentration of both species achieved after 24h enrichment at 24°C was always >106CFU/ml.
