Zusammenfassung:Abstract Over the past twenty years, there has been an increasing awareness of the transition to adult-oriented health care in adolescents and young adults with a chronic illness. While general guidelines for health care transition have been established, some have called for illness-specific guidelines which are tailored to the needs of specific illness populations. The current paper sought to outline illness-specific guidelines for health care transition in adolescents and young adults with disorders of sex development based upon the recent American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines. We also suggest indicators of successful transition for adolescents and young adults with disorders of sex development as well as areas for future research.
