Zusammenfassung:The anaerobic processes literature review contains a comprehensive discussion of articles published in 2008 with emphasis on biological wastewater treatment processes that exploit an environment devoid of oxygen. Digesters treating a mixture of manure and energy crop residual experienced self-induced temperature increases from 35°C to between 40-50°C, but exhibited disruption in the treatment process and decrease in methane production (Lindorfer et al., 2008). Methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) contamination is difficult to treat by conventional treatment methods; although natural attenuation has been documented, the responsible organisms are unknown (Youngster et al., 2008).
